Mysticism in Art movement presents Caron Eule’s Dance as a part of its on going exhibition Mystical City. C. Eule’s Dance is a New York City-based modern dance company under the direction of choreographer Caron Eule. Eule’s movement fuses classical modern dance, ballet, gymnastics, and traditional dances from around the globe. The work is spirited and dynamic. Eule employs a wide variety of music, from Chopin to Bebel Gilberto, and forms collaborations with local musicians to create new scores for dance. C. Eule Dance explores traditional roles of musicians, dancers, and artists of other disciplines. The diversity of style, media and themes combined with the artistic excellence of performers and interdisciplinary collaborating artists makes C. Eule Dance performances compelling, proving to be enjoyed by dance connoisseurs and novices alike. The art exhibition presents a concept of Mystical City created by the artists of the Mysticism in Art movement. The main focus of this movement is to share with the audience, through the prism of the artists’ works, their intuitive knowledge and experiences, which transcend beyond the material objects of ordinary perception. Mystical City, in particular, is a symbol of a global city-state philosophy that has been with our civilization for thousands of years. It is expressed in the works of seven artists via different media, including painting, sculpture, photography, video installation, music and dance. Throughout history a city has been the place that brought together people of different cultures, religions and trades, sustaining the progress of humanity. A city’s architecture, layout and overall environment speak volumes about the people who had inhabited it and the times that it had witnessed. Similarly, for many artists the Mystical City concept is an allegory or a state of mind, where the abstract neighborhoods, streets, and characters make up their unique cities or utopias, reflecting their personal experiences and visions. The artists of this movement hope to invoke interest and a spiritual hunger for mystical knowledge. They are on a journey of creative discovery, searching for the answers and believing that the search for reason becomes the reason itself.
This show will be on display at the Van Der Plas Gallery from August 4th to September 10th 2006. The Gallery is located in the center of New York City legendary South Street Seaport, Pier 17 on the second floor in the mall.
